Bigger Piggies

27Jan09

The pigs at the top are starting to wonder if it’s worth getting up in the morning.

The high-flying execs at Citigroup caved under pressure from President Obama and decided today to abandon plans for a luxurious new $50 million corporate jet from France.

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.

Just yesterday, they were stunned that anyone would question the decision for a transportation upgrade. After all, the purchase would help stimulate the economy, wouldn’t it?

The decision came 24 hours after the banking giant, which was rescued by a $45 billion taxpayer lifeline, defended buying the state-of-the-art Dassault Falcon 7X — one of nine to be flying in U.S. skies — as a smart business deal.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

Of course, $50 million for a new ride looks quaint compared to AIG, spending $450 million for “retention pay” bonuses. They’re scared to death they might lose the employees who destroyed the company by gambling in credit-default swaps.

About 400 workers at the financial products unit may get the money in two installments, said the people, who declined to be named because details of the payments were confidential. The business was responsible for about $34 billion in writedowns since 2007 as the market value of swaps AIG sold to banks plunged amid the subprime mortgage market collapse.

In their sties with all their backing
They don’t care what goes on around
In their eyes there’s something lacking
What they need’s a damn good whacking.

None of the pigs are as bad as Congressional Democrats, angling to create slush funds in the Stimulus Package that can be used to reward partners in crime like ACORN.

House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement over the weekend noting that the stimulus bill wending its way through Congress provides $4.19 billion for “neighborhood stabilization activities.”

Everywhere there’s lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.

ACORN, you may recall, is the election fraud division of the Democratic Party.

He said the money was previously limited to state and local governments, but that Democrats now want part of it to be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds.

Who are the Bigger Piggies? The Washington Piggies, who take the money to fix the game.
