Bad Decision

It is hard to figure out why the White House wants to bring some terrorists to New York City for trial, while others will face military tribunals at Gitmo. Can it be that this is just a bone to appease liberals, angry at President Obama for pursuing policies so similar to those they spent years loathing George W. Bush for pursuing?

“I think it’s part of a whole package of the president not seeing the war on terror,” said former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on “Fox News Sunday,” who said terrorists should be tried as enemy combatants and not afforded the rights given to U.S. criminal court defendents.

“He has delayed inordinately in making this decision about the war strategy in Afghanistan,” Giuliani said. “And finally, this whole thing with [alleged Fort Hood shooter] Major Hasan is another indication that he doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get the fact that there is an Islamic war against us.”

Rep. Peter Hoekstra, R-Vt., called it a “bad decision.”

It seems, more often than not, that Obama decisions are based more on politics than good policy. This appears to be just another political decision.

“To treat this as a act like an ordinary murder that year was a mistake,” he said on “State of the Union.” “It should have been treated as an act of war.”

The decision, he said, was another example of “Barack Obama deciding we’re not at war with terrorists any more.”
