Pelican President

The bureaucrats are continuing to interfere with the oil  cleanup effort.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department is shutting down sand berm dredging that Louisiana was doing to protect its shore. Reports state that Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser is “one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan” and has pleaded with President Obama to allow the dredging to continue.

Nungesser doesn’t sound impressed with how presidential leadership is breaking through the red tape.

Meanwhile, the oil is spewing at full speed again, just a week after the president said the flow would soon be reduced by about 90%.

Adm. Thad W. Allen of the Coast Guard, at a mid-day briefing in Washington, said a remote-controlled submersible operating a mile beneath the surface had most likely bumped a vent and compromised the system. Live video from the seafloor showed oil and gas storming out of the well unrestricted.

As a result of the bump, the partial cap that was installed a couple of weeks ago had to be removed.

Neither BP nor the Coast Guard could determine immediately how long it would be before they could reattach the lower marine riser package cap, however. “We’re still developing the facts,” Admiral Allen said.

The McChrystal diversion not withstanding, the flow of oil continues to coat the Obama presidency, taking away Barack’s political buoyancy.
